CAPTAIN W. M. RUSSELL'S SCRAPBOOK
Rebecca Baker is the daughter of Patricia Russell who's father was Captain William Marshall Russell, Captain of the Lake Tanker Valera which was torpedoed and sunk by U-518 on 7 March, 1944.  Capt. Russell was the only crewmember to perish.  Rebecca found the web site, saw photos of her grandparents and sent me an email.  CLICK HERE TO SEE THAT EMAIL.  I also asked her if she had any photos from her grandparents, this is what she sent.  If any one reconciles any of the persons in the photos please let me know, Rebecca would like to know.

 COOK BOOK
While sorting through Documents in her father's attic Nicky came across what claims to be the First Aruba Cook Book compiled by the Ladies of the Colony.
On checking your web site we noticed that you already had two cook books one from 1960's and the other from around the war period. On checking these out our copy is of the one from around the War period and is a little more complete than the copy you have. We know that William's wife and children sailed to the UK from the colony in 1939 so it is quite likely that this cook book predates their departure although we have no definitive proof.
Ours is bound using a two punched clip system Oxford Filing Folders (made in U.S.A.) Stock No. 1756 and has the outer cover and first pages intact. The remainder of the book looks to be the same as the one from Fay Keene (except the Table of weights and measures page is missing) with page 101 being the last page.
We have enclosed copies of the outer cover, Preface and Table of Contents.
