TINA BANERJEE CHITTOM
FAMILY HISTORY
I lived with my family in Lago Colony from 1974-1979. My father, Ty Banerjee, who died in 2008, was an engineer with Lago.
We lived in Bungalow 341. My younger brother was born on the island.
To me, my childhood on the island was very unique, very special, almost like a Garden of Eden. In times of trouble and strife, I have often invoked the images of the crimson sunsets, the soft trade winds, and turquoise waves and the many parties, events, etc. which are like embers that light up the darkness.
However, in order to preserve those memories, I have never returned to the island.
Now in early middle-age, I was able to connect with so many people from the past via social networking. I found that they also share the experience of having lived a unique life. To quote Bryan Adams, "Those were the best days of my life."
